People often conclude that they should no longer feel fear or suffer from indecisiveness after they get married. After all, marriage is the toughest decision that one can take, right? Taking decision after marriage is presumed to be easy. Well, all it takes is the thought of having a baby to generate all the old fears all over again. Many persons feel they are not prepared for such a major change all over again.

Others know having a baby is inevitable but are scared of the responsibilities that it involves. Newly married individuals planning on starting a family often focus on small aspects of baby care. They will remember how troublesome they were as kids and how their parents found it difficult to see them under control. Many persons simply conclude that having a baby means signing away one’s personal peace for the next 15 to 20 years. Nobody can plan or imagine over such a long time span.

The first thing to do to tackle this problem is to acknowledge that such fears exist and that it is natural for such fears to be present. Any major decision will involve hesitation and this is one of the biggest decisions that an individual can ever take.

The second step that one should take is to contact other individuals of one’s age group to know more about the problems. Many persons get to know more about what having and maintaining a baby actually involves. Those who have to wake up at two in the morning because of the baby will give a balanced picture. They will also help understand how this can be an enriching experience.
